We at RKTYX had the pleasure of meeting Luca Medici and Delbert Perez, the dynamic duo behind the American DJ project INVT, on the occasion of their first-ever artistic debut in Milan. A quick stopover between Miami and Los Angeles, with Oslo next on their schedule, turned into something deeper than just another city gig.
What we found weren’t just talented musicians — but two incredibly grounded and life-loving individuals, whose energy, curiosity and authenticity leave no doubt: their journey is going far, musically and humanly.
After a laid-back morning, we strolled down to the iconic Navigli district, where a visit to Antonioli turned into a spontaneous moment of connection. Between fashion finds and casual conversation, the vibe was effortless — a snapshot of what makes Milan feel like home, even for a day.
It was there, tucked among racks of avant-garde pieces and rare sneakers, that we captured a candid Q&A session — a conversation that dove into their musical influences, long-term dreams, and the mindset behind the sound they create.
1. Your name?
D: Delbert
L: Luca
2. Your age?
Both: 27
3. How do you pronounce INVT?
L: Just like the letters — I-N-V-T.
4. When was INVT born?
D: Late 2014.
5. How did it all start?
L: We met when we were 11, through skateboarding.
D: Yeah, and we always liked making music… one thing led to another and here we are.
6. Describe Italy in one word.
D: Romantic.
L: Sexy. (laughs)
7. Top 3 favorite foods?
Both: Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian.
8. Favorite sport to watch?
D: Basketball. (shakes head like he can’t live without it)
L: Skateboarding.
9. Who was better at school?
L: Honestly, we were both pretty good.
D: Yeah, we handled it.
10. Who’s the craziest in INVT?
L: I think me… I’m broadly a little crazy. (laughs hard)
D: Oh yeah. For sure. We’re both wild in our own ways, but he wins.
11. An Italian artist you admire?
L: There’s a younger guy from Rome: XL Regular. He’s really good!
D: Yeah, this guy is fire. And I’ll add Gabrie Medici... if you don’t know him, look him up. He’s my favorite artist. (laughs)
RKTYX: Wait, is he related to Luca (Medici)?
L: Maybe. Look him up! ;) (both laugh)
Fun fact: We later discovered Gabrie Medici is a chef from "Luna Pasta e Dolci". Shout out to him — LOL.
12. Top 3 artists of all time?
D & L: Man, we can’t choose... too hard to say.
13. What would you be doing if not DJing?
D: Skateboarder... or fashion designer. (L agree)
14. Daytime or nighttime sets?
L: Daytime, always. We even organize our own parties during the day.
15. Vinyl or digital?
Both: Digital.
16. Best club you’ve ever played in?
D: I would say Nowadays in New York or Blitz in Munich, they were pretty sick! Really incredible!
17. Favorite drink during a set?
D: Coconut! Coconut water, straight from the coconut.
L: Natural wine.
18. Dwyane Wade or LeBron James?
Both: D-Wade, of course!
19. Favorite thing in Miami?
D: The beach.
20. Favourite thing in LA?
D: The food culture. They have pretty much every type of food.
21. Favorite fashion designer or brand?
L: We like Prada a lot. We like Filling Pieces for shoes.
D: Yeah, also NightKids in Miami, Dodo...
22. One thing that’s always in your DJ bag?
L: Well, booty poppin' shit (laughs)
D: Earpods (laughs)
23. Dream collaboration?
Both: Ricardo Villalobos, for sure!
24. What do you listen to when you're not making music?
L: Ca7riel y Paco Amoroso, Playboi Carti.
D: Yeah, Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, Larry June... we are really into hip hop. We are from Miami so hip hop is really present for us. We like bachata, cumbia, dembow. You should check out SOSI POSI.
25. Your favorite track you've ever made?
Both: La Covacha.
26. Craziest episode you experienced?
D: I was playing in Australia for a New Year’s event and flew directly to Mexico City, then another plane to Cancun and a car to Tulum to play at Circoloco. It was just f*ing crazy! As soon as I got on stage, I completely lost my voice. We were going b2b with Bradley Zero, first time meeting him and playing at Circoloco, and we were closing... so it was a BIG deal! And I couldn’t say a word! (laughs)
L: But I talk a lot! So I talked for both of us (laughs)
D: By the way, at the end it was the most unforgettable b2b I’ve ever done... it was so sick!
27. What do you like about the current tech-house scene?
L: Honestly, I like 2003 old school shit a lot more. Tech-house became super mainstream and became pretty terrible as a result. But what’s interesting now is that there’s definitely some people trying to play and make stuff that sounds like the roots of tech-house.
D: Yeah, we’ve got people like Danny Daze ripping it. I feel like people are starting to detach from robotic sets and find their own sound, not just please the market. That’s our take.
28. One thing you’d change about club culture today?
Both: The phones!
D: And the set design. Many parties feel like a transactional vibe. Expensive drinks, no soul. We want clubs to offer hospitality, to make people feel welcome and safe. Without that, music can’t work properly. Coming back to the question, I would say the environment is the main thing to change.
L: Also promoters need to promote, and also educate, train people about something they might know. Not just booking acts with a million followers that are gonna sell out tickets.
29. What’s your next goal?
L: We have a new album coming out this year, so we’re finishing it up. Next week we’ll play Primavera Festival in Barcelona with a live set. We’re pretty busy!
30. A message you want to bring through your music to the people?
Both: Make something that’s real to you, dont just make something to please other people.
